Changes

“Come on Vanessa, the bus is going to be here in 5 minuets.” Isabelle yelled.
“I’m coming.” I hollered.
Vanessa ran downstairs, her blond hair blowing in the wind, her blue eyes glistening in the sun. One word describes it all ‘Beautiful’.
My name is Vanessa; I’m a 14 year old girl living the life she always dreamed of. Two loving parents, two wonderful siblings, Isabelle, and Joseph, Caring friends, a wonderful boyfriend, and best of all, a team that loves her.

“Mom, I’m going Jamie’s after school before practice.” I said as I rummaged through my backpack.
“Okay your dad will be there to pick you up after.” Her mom said.
Vanessa grabbed her backpack, hockey stick, and her hockey bag and was out the door in a matter of seconds.
When Vanessa got on the bus, everything was silent, and all eyes were on her.
“Sit over here Ness” One girl said.
“No, sit over here!” Another yelled.
Vanessa just smiled and sat next to her best friend, Amanda.
“Hey Mandy.” Vanessa said as she stumbled over here stuff.
“Hey Ness, you excited for playoffs this weekend?”
“Ah, not really” Ness said sarcastically.
“What are you talking about girl, yesterday that’s all you could talk about, now you’re just going to change your mind just like that?” Amanda said.
“I’m just kidding Mandy, of course I’m excited!” Vanessa giggled.
This bus stops, the door opens everything was silent. Drew Hanson appeared on the bus. The one I call ‘Mine’.
“You’re so lucky to have him” Amanda said.
“Oh come on, he’s not that amazing.” I look at him again. “Okay, maybe he is!”
“Hey ladies” Drew said
“Hi Drew” Amanda said.
Vanessa just smiled.
The bus stopped, once again. Vanessa, Drew, and Amanda stare out the window, Stacey Jackson, - The dancer. All we could say is Ew. Long Brown Hair, Dark brown eyes, and a body so fragile, I was scared she would break if I touched her. She stared at me and gave me a dirty look.
I look at Amanda, Next Drew; she couldn’t handle how un-popular she was.
We arrived at school at 8:45am. Drew, Amanda, and Vanessa, Best friends, side by side, together forever.
The bell rang, and Ness walked to class.
After school was finally over, Ness walked straight to Jamie’s locker.
“Hey Jamie” Ness said.
“Hey Ness, are you ready to go?”
“Fo Sho” Ness and Jamie laughed as they walked out the door.
When they got to the corner of the street, they met up with Drew, and
Amanda.
“Hey Guys” Ness said.
“Hey” Amanda and Drew said.
We walked to Jamie’s.
~*~*~
When I got home, it was dark, as I stumbled through the door, the kitchen light turned on.
“Oh, Hi mom.” I said.
“Hi Ness. I was just taking a nap when you got home.”
“Sorry I woke you.” I said as I walked into my room.
As soon as I got into my room, I dropped my stuff on the floor, and walked directly back into the kitchen. When I got into the kitchen, I sat down at the table at my regular spot.
“Ness can you get Izzy, and Joseph for me, please?” mom said.
“Sure” I said as I walked out to Izzy’s room.
“Dizzy, supper is ready” and she walked down to the kitchen.
After I walked to Joseph’s room.
“Time for supper bud.” I say.
Joseph walked to the kitchen and sat in the seat besides Izzy. I followed him into the kitchen, and sat down across from him.
The food was ready, and on the table, my mom and dad sat down and we all started eating.
“So how was hockey Ness?” my dad asked.
“Good” I replied.
“Listen Ness, we need to talk, you dad and I thought about it, and … we think it would be best if you maybe, quit hockey.”
My mouth dropped. I can’t believe their making me do this.”
“WHAT” that’s all I could say.
“I know you’re mad, but hockey takes up too much time, and costs way to much money.” My dad says, but I can barley hear it.
I hear those words running through my mind, quit hockey, quit hockey, quit hockey… over and over again...
“I’m not hungry anymore” I said, and walked up to my room.
I ran to my computer, and immediately e-mailed Amanda.

My mom walked in the room just as I was closing the internet.
“Ness hun, I know this is hard for you, but hockey costs just way too much money, maybe you could join another sport, maybe dance, figure skating, or maybe soccer.”
“No I want to stay in hockey, I’m captain, the team is depending on me, I can’t just quit in the middle of playoffs.”
“Sorry Ness, you have to quit, were not making this an option, your quitting, you dad is calling your coach right now.” My mom said as she walked out of my room, and closed the door.
I decided to just lay down in my bed and go to sleep.
In the morning, I woke up not wanting to do anything, I got in the shower, and when I got out I blow dried my hair and curled it, and I got dressed, that’s all I really wanted to do. I went outside at 7:45 and sat on the lawn waiting for the bus. When the bus got here, I stood up and walked to the bus, for the first time in months, everything stayed it same when I got on, no one asked me to sit with them, I just walked to the back and sat down beside Amanda, even If she didn’t want to sit with me I was still going to sit with her.
“Hi Mandy.” I said
“Hi Ness” She said happily.
“Is it alright if I sit here with you?” I asked.
“Of course, just because your not on the hockey team doesn’t mean that were not friends.”
“Aw, thanks Mandy” I smiled.
Now Drew walks on the bus, smiling.
“Hey Drew” I say.
“Hey Nessie” he says.
All the way to school me Amanda and Drew, were all talking about my future, should I join dance, baseball, softball, figure skating, or soccer. They think I should join soccer, but I have something else in mind. Something that I don’t think they will like.
~*~*~
When I got home, I told my mom and dad, that I thought of what sport I want to play. I told them Dance. They were shocked.
“Okay Ness, if you want too, I will call the teacher for Dance Revolution that you would like to join, hopefully they will let you join.” My dad said.
“Sounds good.” I said, and I went to bed.
In the morning, I told Drew and Amanda that I’m joining dance. They were shocked, and exactly what I thought, they hated it.
In the hallways I saw Stacey, the one I will be dancing with.
“Hey Stacey.” I said.
“Ness, why are you talking to me?” She said surprisingly.
“I just wanted to tell you, that my parents are making me quit hockey, so I’m joining dance!”
“WHAT, you have to dance with me, oh god, this cant be good.”
“Oh, come on, I’m not that bad of a dancer, well I hope I’m not.”
“Fine, I will see if you are good enough to be dancing with ME” she said.
“Oh don’t be so conceded.” I said.
“Well I am a very good dancer; I have been dancing for 10 years now.” She said.
“Oh well I have been playing hockey for 11 years. BEAT THAT”
We both laughed.
“Well I guess I should get to class, Mrs. Hansen is going to kill me if I’m late again.” I said.
“Well see you later.” Stacey said to me. “Oh don’t forget we have dance tonight from 5:30-8:00, BE THERE!” she said.
I walked to my classroom, and sat down next to Amanda.
“Hey, we meet once again.” I said
She just ignored me.
“Mandy, Hello.” I said.
Amanda, my best friend just stood up and went to go sit beside Drew. MY BOYFRIEND.
I need to go over and settle this all.
“Drew, Amanda, I need to talk to you guys, I know you guys are mad at me for quitting hockey, but its not my fault, I didn’t want to quit, my parents made me, I cant help it.” I said, hoping they would forgive me.
“Vanessa, just go away, I’m breaking up with you.” Drew said.
“Whatever, there is nothing I can do, good-bye forever guys.” I walked away.
After school I walked on the bus, and sat down by myself.
“Is this seat taken?” I heard an unfamiliar voice say.
I look up, Caitlyn Smith; the LAST person I thought would be talking to me.
“I heard you joined my dance group, I never would have guessed that, I thought you were a hockey girl?” She said
“Yeah I did play hockey, but my parents made me quit, so I joined dance instead.” I said, still kind of surprised.
“That’s cool, I’m sure you’re an amazing dancer.” She said. “Well this is my stop, see you tonight at dance!”
“Bye” I said.
When I got home, I went and put some shorts and a t-shirt on, apparently, that’s what you wear to dance class.
When my dad got home it was 4:45, my mom made us supper, and by the time we finished it was 5:10, so we left for my first day of dance.
When I walked into the dance studio, my dad followed me in.
“Hi Vanessa.” I heard a lady say. “I’m Janessa; I will be your dance instructor from now on.”
Janessa is very pretty, she had blond hair and blue eyes, her hair tied up in a pony tail, and she was wearing yoga pants and a black jacket. There weren’t very many people in the group, I counted 11, and I knew a few of them, Stacey, Caitlyn, and a girl from my math class, Ally.
“Girls, we have a new dancer joining us today. Her name is Vanessa.” Janessa told the girls as we walked into the studio. Janessa introduced me to all of the girls, there were 14 people in the group now, and two were missing today. The ones that were here were, Stacey, Caitlyn, Ally, Kylie, Michaela, Kayla, Ashlee, Natalie, Christina, Madi, and Grace.
Ashlee was the first one I noticed; she had medium length blond hair and gray eyes, she was beautiful and I wanted to be her best friend.
“Okay girls lets do some stretching.” Janessa said.
I followed Ally to the dance floor and sat down next to her. Ashlee came and sat down beside me.
“Hi Vanessa, I’m Ashlee.”
“Hi Ashlee, you can call me Ness.”
“Okay, that’s a cool nickname.”
“Yeah, my best fr- I mean my ex- best friend gave it too me when we met in grade 4.”
“Why isn’t she your friend anymore?” Ashlee asked.
“I don’t really know, she just doesn’t talk to me anymore, since I joined dance.” I replied.
“That’s too bad. What is her name?” She asked.
“Amanda, I call her Mandy.”
“Oh, that’s cool.” She said.
~*~*~

After dance was over my dad was there to pick me up.
“Hi.” I said as I sat down in the car.
“Hi, how was it?” He asked.
“Great! I met a lot of new people.” I said.
“Well I’m glad you liked it.” He said
It took us 10 minuets to get home; when I got home it was 8:25pm. I walked in the house my mom was sitting on the couch watch TV. She turned the TV off when I walked in the room.
“Hi Ness.” My mom said.
“Hi, Dance was awesome, I love it. I made a lot of new friends. There were 11 people there and 2 were missing.”
“That’s awesome, I’m glad you liked it.” She said smiling.” Now, are you going to stick with it?”
“I think so.” I said. “Well I’m going to go to bed, I’m really tired. Good-night.”
“Night.”

In the morning I woke up raring to go! I prettied myself up and left for school. But after school and before dance, I was in for a real surprise.

~*~*~

Dance that night was worse then I expected. The two other girls were there, Jessie, and … AMANDA!! Yes, my best friend Amanda. When I saw her my mouth dropped.
“WHAT!” I said.
“Oh Hi Ness…” She said quietly.
“I thought you hated dance?” I said with an attitude.
“Uh, yeah about that, um, I actually love it I have been in it for over 8 years, I was just saying that because I didn’t want anyone to know I was in dance.” She said still kind of quiet.”
I couldn’t speak, she lied to me, and As soon as she said this I walked away, now I know she wasn’t worthy enough to be my best friend.
~*~*~
When I got home I went straight to my room and thought about life. For two hours I just sat there, at 10:45 I finally fell asleep.
~*~*~
When I woke up in the morning, I couldn’t believe it, it was finally the weekend. I was happy but I really wasn’t looking forward for school on Monday, but of course it came.
Monday morning was the worst day of grade 8; it was usually amazing but today just sucked.
At school I could barley look any where near where Amanda was. She was my worst enemy. Just thinking that she lied to me, makes me even madder. But the time had to come, in 4th period Amanda walked up to me.
“Listen Ness, I’m sorry I lied to you, I know its wrong, but it’s the best thing to do, I didn’t want people making fun of me because I was in dance. I needed an excuse, I know I shouldn’t have lied and gotten mad at you, but it was for the team.”
“Whatever Amanda, there is nothing you can say that will ever make me forgive you, come on we were best friends, I can’t believe you did this to me. Peace Out” I walked away.
For the rest of the time I was in dance I didn’t talk to Amanda at all, I stayed being friends with Stacey, Ally, and Ashlee. It was a very good idea but I still felt that loosing her was really hard for me, but it also helped.
